WeltWeitWissen 2018 - learning for change
Congress in Bremen, 3rd-5th of May 2018

Every two years the countrywide congress for global learning and education for sustainable development "WeltWeitWissen" takes place in a different location. After Mainz, Dresden, Potsdam, Saarbrucken, Stuttgart and Bonn, the northern German city of Bremen will be hosting the 7^th editition auf the congress: From 3rd to 5th of May, 2018.

Entitled „learning for the change“ the congress will bring together around 500 participants from various professional backgrounds. The congress is the meeting and melting place for practitioners, political stakeholders and researchers in the field of Global Learning. Both non-formal / civil society educators and teachers are welcome to the congress, as is anyone with an interest in Global Learning.

Main focuses of the event:

• How should Global Learning look like to facilitate the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) / the Great Transformation?
• Is Global Learning political enough to motivate learners to take action? And: How political and radical can Global Learning be while still respecting the “Beutelsbacher Konsens” (= interdiction of overwhelming and indoctrinating education)?
• What distinguishes transformative learning processes?

How can I take part?

• At the congress: Plenum formats (inputs, platforms, discussions), small group workshops, exploring good practice projects at the educational market and participation in the cultural programme. => Registration will start 1^st December 2017.
• Participation in the educational market with your good practice project (submission possible until 31^st January 2018). Details on the application process are available (see above, only in German).
• Participation as a speaker/facilitator of inputs and workshops. Contact us!

Organizers of the congress are the „Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Eine-Welt-Landesnetzwerke in Deutschland“ (Externer Linkagl), the „Bremer entwicklungspolitisches Netzwerk“ (Externer LinkBeN), the „Bremer Informationszentrum für Menschenrechte und Entwicklung“ (Externer Linkbiz) and the „Verband Entwicklungspolitik Niedersachsen“ (Externer LinkVEN).

The congress language will be German. If required an individual face to face translation is offered.
